Greetings,
I’d like to welcome new and returning participants to the second part of the Introduction to the New Testament course!
The purpose of this second part is to deepen your knowledge of the New Testament, particularly the Book of Acts, the Letters of Paul (we will focus on1 Thessalonians), the Catholic Epistles (we will focus on the Letters of John), and the Book of Revelation.
I’ve enclosed the Unit 6 and Unit 7 packets for your review. My suggestion to prepare for Saturday’s class is to review my notes, familiarize yourself with the passages I reference (always keep a Bible handy and bring one on Saturday!), and take a look at the supplemental material. It would be helpful to either print out these packets and bring them with you or have access to a computer to view them because I will be referring to them throughout the day.
Also, if you have time, it would definitely be worth reading parts of these works. I would suggest you focus on the following chapters in each text:
Revelation: Chapters 1, 13, 20-22
Acts: Chapters, 1-3, 9, 10, 11, 15
1Thessalonians: 1-5
1John: 1-5 (it would also be worth reading 2 and 3 John, which are very short)
If you’d like to read MORE of these works, I’ve enclosed study guides for Revelation, Acts, and 1 Thess. It might be easier to use these questions and look for the answer in each chapter. It would be helpful to use a commentary with these guides. Here’s a good online bible with commentary. https://bible.usccb.org/bible
Do the best you can!
See you on Saturday.
