The Professor CSP Hunter Scholarships : Kevin McNamara

We are very happy to award the first Professor CSP Hunter Scholarship to a Heythrop College alumnus: Kevin McNamara.

K McNamara
Kevin McNamara

After leaving Heythrop and graduating with an MA in Contemporary Ethics, Kevin McNamara had a brief career in politics before deciding to re-dedicate himself to work with children and families. He has worked in targeted children's services (LAC, Community Paediatrics and now a joint Community Paediatrics/Child and Adolescent     Mental Health pathway for assessing Autism) and is training to be a counsellor so that he can help children with special needs, and children who are not yet reaching their potential, and hoping to hold them in the light. He briefly started doctoral research into looking at the pastoral and spiritual demands that are placed upon healthcare practitioners before deciding to suspend and revisit and develop his own professional practice.

This membership would help me bring a theological and greater pastoral aspect to my professional training and gain a greater integrative perspective in my work, and to deepen this understanding. It would also help me remain a part of the Heythrop and wider Christian community, and to develop deeper links.

If you are also an early career scholar in either theology or philosophy, live within 3-hours travelling distance to our Library, at Mount Street (Mayfair) and want to benefit from Heythrop Library membership, please apply: see our page for criteria and the application process. 5 further Professor CSP Hunter Scholarships are available for starting any time in 2023.
